The Dyslexia Hub Ireland

A Learning Website for Dyslexia in Ireland

This online learning hub developed by the Dyslexia Association of Ireland allows you to learn more about dyslexia. The hub is designed to be accessible with information broken down into bite-size chunks, lots of videos, and signposting to additional resources. The hub is primarily aimed at parents and young people with dyslexia at primary level, however, the content will also be of interest to older individuals with dyslexia, educators, and others.

Structured Literacy

This section is designed to help children with dyslexia with their reading and spelling. Aimed at primary level students, the video lessons use a Structured Literacy approach based on the science of reading to help students develop their reading and spelling skills.

Empowering Parents

In this section we guide parents and guardians through some of the key information you need to become more knowledgeable and empowered to support your child with dyslexia. This will help you to understand your child’s assessment and talk about their dyslexia, and navigate the school system knowing what supports your child may qualify for, and how to access these.

Emotional Wellbeing

This section aims to support the emotional development of young people with dyslexia. The videos discuss concepts such as self-esteem, confidence, resilience, motivation and managing negative self-talk, with content for both parents and young people with dyslexia.

Technology

The technology section demonstrates useful assistive technology in the most commonly used devices and software. Our focus is on the free and inbuilt tools which enable text to speech (read aloud) and speech to text (dictation or voice typing) as well as some other useful accessibility features relevant for individuals with dyslexia.

Voices of Dyslexia

Are you looking to deepen your understanding of dyslexia and hear some honest and inspiring stories? In our Voices of Dyslexia section you will hear from a range of people who have experienced dyslexia first-hand. These personal insights illustrate both the commonalities and the diversity of experiences across the dyslexia spectrum.
